There’s nothing like avoiding the discomfort and panic that can accompany getting lost. Upon first discovering that we’re lost the first action most of us take is to immediately become more lost. Once we discover we’re more lost we can either suffer the delusion that we’re actually not lost, we just feel lost OR we can accept that we’re more lost. In either case, chances are, we will proceed to become even-more-lost.
This cycle can continue until we’re so lost we’ll be lucky if we can find our way out of the car. It’s a disastrous sequence, as you can see. Many of us have experienced it and many more will continue to experience it. But my days of being even-more-lost are over. I finally got myself a Garmin Streetpilot, one of the the most popular, functional GPS navigation devices available. No more panic, no more stopping to ask for directions. I put in my destination and BANG, I’m there.
Technology has vastly improved in such a way that it has improved the way people travel. For example, if you find yourself in an unfamiliar place and need to know exactly where you are, it used to be that you had to pore over a map or stop and ask for directions eight times before reaching your destination. With GPS technology, headaches of this nature are a distant memory.
Need to find a restaurant and the best possible route to get there? Simply use your Nextar GPS device and you’ll get your answer in no time. It’s simple and easy to use. Some versions even let you download map updates, since it seems like road construction is a never-ending endeavor. Getting lost is virtually impossible. Plus, it can let you view traffic information so you can avoid the gridlock and traffic jams.

Pioneer Corporation is a multinational organization specializing in consumer and commercial electronics. Pioneer Electronics USA is the sales and marketing component of Pioneer’s North American headquarters, offering audio, video, and computer products for the home and car. Projection TVs, DVD players, satellite radio, and Pioneer GPS systems for the car are just a few items in their product line.
Pioneer had a role in developing interactive cable television, the Laserdisc player, the first automotive CD player, the first detachable-face car stereo, DVD and DVD recording, and organic LED display (OLED) technology. The company works with optical disc and display technology and software and manufactures products as well. In September 2007, Sharp Corporation teamed up with Pioneer to mutually benefit one another by using their combined technologies to improve future products. In March 2008, Pioneer made the decision to discontinue manufacture of its own plasma displays, likely because it was not profitable. Pioneer will continue to make plasma TVs, and they have recently partnered with Matsushita to do so, again to mutually benefit both companies and expand the technology.

My dad is one of those stubborn, old-fashioned people who are reluctant to embrace new technology. It is not that he is incapable of operating the new technologies, but rather that he enjoys the independent and self-reliant nature of using conventional methods. One of the best examples of this is his dedication to mapping out his own routes.
Despite the fact that he is an in-home salesman, he still uses a Thomas Guide to map out his appointments everyday. Last week I finally decided to give him a demo of my new Garmin Nuvi system. He was almost instantaneously converted and now wants one for the holidays.
