Maintaining a Running Regimen

vkrfitness-pedometerRunning is one of the most physically stimulating activities in the exercise world.  Compared to most cardio machines, running at a pace of about 6 MPH for 30-60 minutes can double or triple the amount of calories burned.  Running is also an activity that you can do outside the gym; it’s cost effective and convenient.  When it comes to creating and maintaining a run schedule, it can be difficult to design a regimen and remain dedicated to your running goal.  To keep motivated and achieve your weight loss, fitness, or exercise goals, consider making these purchases:

~Running Shoes – spending money on a new set of running shoes keeps you motivated and invested in your fitness.

~Pedometer – a pedometer is great for tracking your progress, and it can be used to track your calorie intake and calories burned throughout the day.

~Portable Music Device – music keeps people motivated when they’re running, and focused on the ‘now’ rather than their eventual goal.

Setting a Digital Alarm Clock

invocaalarmWhile regular wind up alarm clocks can be relatively intuitive and simple to set, the digital alarm clock can be a bit more difficult.  In general, most digital alarm clocks will have four central buttons, hour, minute, wake, and snooze.  The snooze button will give you an extra 10-15 minutes before the alarm sounds again.  The hour and minute buttons are used to set the time on the actual clock, and holding the wake button while simultaneously pressing the hour and minute buttons will allow you to set the time the alarm rings.  You want to be sure that you set the alarm for AM or PM; many a person has been late for work because their alarm was set for PM instead of AM.

To make the alarm ring, in general there will be a switch somewhere on the digital alarm clock that sets it to ring the next time it reaches the designated ‘wake’ time.  It’s a good idea to reset this switch every morning so you don’t forget at night (provided you need to wake up at the same time the next day).
