Some people can afford to be stubborn, but I’ve never had the best sense of direction. On family vacations of old, I could spend entire hours – and gallons of gas – driving around and doubling back in search of a given restaurant or entertainment destination. Maps didn’t seem to help, and the imploring clamor from my kids in the backseat only served to distract me further.
These days I feel much more confident about my navigational abilities, and most of the credit belongs to my Garmin GPS systems. With the touch of a few buttons, I can get credible directions or change my preferred route of travel. I can still avoid embarrassing trips into the service station to ask for help, but now it’s more than just a point of pride. I really can take care of the navigation myself – with a bit of help from my onboard GPS of course.
